Ugliest House Ever Built In Cape Town Still For Sale

Who would've thought that the ugliest house ever built in Cape Town is still for sale at the bargain price of R14 500 000. This crime against your eyes has been on sale since at least August 2008. Buying this place will cost you not only a cool 14 bar but also your sense of style and the respect of your friends...

This house is like a ballerina that was told by her mom it would be safer to get a job as a club hostess. She's only realising a fraction of her potential.
What this house needs is some razor wire coils to secure the 1st floor balcony (right now you only need a ladder to get in), gun slits along the sides and little holes in the floor to drop grenades or boiling oil through (for those human wave attacks of panga wielding tik heads). Round it off with punji stakes dipped in human shit to cover your rear and more razor wire along the driveway to channel the mob into a kill zone commanded by the 2nd floor machine gun nest. Also, Rottweilers. Where are the Rottweilers?

this blog is losing its thunder

That's following the assumption we had any thunder in the first place!

@Anonymous, I think you're feeling what a lot of us are, but it's not the fault of this blog. Finally the dust is settling and it is becoming clear that we aren't going to have a property crash. Instead the home-ownerists are going to hang on grimly and inflation is slowly going to take property values back to their historic mean. Ultimately we property bears will be proved right but alas it doesn't make for very interesting reading (or blogging).

Bean counter I think you are correct. Flat prices or property growth below inflation over the next few years is what we are looking at. No mega implosion.

I am currently living overseas and will only be returning to CT in 2014 but I'm no longer expecting to see lower prices in 4 years...

@ BC

Surely, this slow depreciation will only continue for as long as it takes to become obvious that it is happening. Who (except a family that actually wants a home to LIVE in) is going to invest in an asset that is sure to lose a % in value every year?

Let's see what the WC hangover will bring.

With SA having gone off course significantly, one should keep your options open - keep the back door open.

Property is not considered a liquid asset & when the sh*t hits the fan, it will be too late to get rid of it.

We have gone full circle and one of the safest places to store your cash is under your floor. This allows you to grab it & jump on the next plane to Canada/Aus/NZ.

One cannot help but feel if our government is not shaken to a point where they wake up - the writing is on the wall. Unfortunately, something tells me this aint going to happen.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Just went to sheriff auction of 2 Ave Brittany. 1010m2 in Bantry Bay. It went 4.7m.

The house needs to be knocked down, but even with that the land is dirt cheap.

Hmmm the market has spoken and the bears seem to be right.

@JoelW now that's some excellet info, thanks a million sir. Here's what we can do:

- Sell your house, car, cash in your shares, savings, and other properties you may hold.

- Pull as much money from your credit cards, beg money from relatives, get as many personal loans as possible and deposit it all in your bank account

- Get a loan for the 4.7 bar and buy the land. Buy a tent and camp on the land in order to wake up the next morning and piss on your own piece of Atlantic Seaboard paradise. Then hold an unofficial trance party so the acid tripping hippies can camp there for a week until the council chases them off

- Go to the council, and tell them that since you are white, you wish to pay for your forefathers sins and return some land to those that it was stolen from.

- While they mulling over that, take your correspondance with them and go to the nearest township to tell them they can build shacks on your land.

- Once this is done and the shacks are built, file for bankrupcy and the bank can repossess the land, lose the squatters, and auction it off.

- Then you can get a friend to do the same and buy the house next door (which would certainly be on the market and depreciated significantly in value) - which you can rent for a pittance and a clear concience.

@ Anon above

I like it!

My idea also uses land invasion but you wouldn't have to declare insolvency.
I'm thinking of a convoy of vans and trucks- plenty of 2nd hand bargains floating around for the price it would take you to rent a shithole room in Rylands for a year- crewed by types that were too rough to make it into Die Antwoord. Homeless ex-middle class whites united in their hatred of larnies and specuvestor filth.
Pick a nice plot and colonise it. Dig your latrines and start your bonfires, run the amps off one of the volksies.
Seeing as you're not helpless black shack dwellers without access to lawfare the authorities need a minimum of two weeks after presenting you with a court order before they can evict you.
Then you leave the smoking ruin and turds and set up camp on the empty plot opposite.
If it all goes smoothly your locust swarm shouldn't have to move more than once a month.
Community, great views and rent free living for your mobile slum - forever.

The main challenge with this plan is getting together enough people that have given up on ever owning a home in their lives. Shouldn't be hard.

Nice idea @Anon. LOL

Only problem is that the people next door are really good friends and friends would not do that to other friends would they? Would they?!

In a market economy you can’t have friends. Only competitors.
I like this brewing Anarchist sentiment. The racist element is interesting too. I spend a lot of time wondering what the white middle class are going to do when they have been effectively eradicated and plowed back into the working underclass. A sense of entitlement can be a dangerous thing to deny as we know and being solid, dependable hard workers is sort of passé these days – more the working definition of sucker. What happens when young Joe sixpack realizes playing nice and fair gets you nowhere in this country.
Happy news: BTL market cracking under the weight of its own delusions.
