Rent Vs Rent: De Waterkant

Aaaah the De Waterkant, the land of shitty rental returns. Why rent a 3 bedroomed house for R20 000/month when you can rent a 3 bedroomed house for R9 500/month. Now while the first ad might be for a furnished home and that ads to the rental there's no way it can account for 110% difference in rental returns.

There will always be greedy landlords. I know one of them whose tenants just left and he is putting the rent up from R20000 to R30000. Who is he trying to fool?We should start a list of names to name and shame those landlords

This certainly isn't the economy to be putting up rents 33%!

Looking at the furniture in the more pricey apartment, I think I'd pay more for an unfurnished one. 20 grand to live in your grandparents living room? I think not...

With all due respect, it is the landlord's right to do as he pleases - free market at its best! If he want to put it up by 10k , let him...he might burn , he might be lucky.

Of course landlords can do what they want but they will have their properties stand empty for a long time and losing rent in a long term. Leaving a property empty is not a good idea, with squatters around and the property not being maintained when empty. so those greedy landlords are losers at the end!
