Buy The Bachelor Pad, Get The Bachelor Car

Here's a 43m2 bachelor apartment for sale in the CBD for only R1 300 000. That's a bit steep for 43m2 right? Well to sweeten the deal the owner will throw in a used Mecedes SLK 350.

I guess he's trying to kill two depreciating assets with one stone....

Well a mate of mine bought an 8 month old 55amg slk for R240k on auction, admitedly 2 years ago but still. Say thats R350k for the newish 350 slk it works out at around 23k per square meter if my maths is right.

Dig a little further and you find the same guy trying to sell these individually:

One thing that does strike me is the following in the ad: "RENT INCOME R95.500 p/a". Which is R7917.00 p/m. Now I'm not too fluent on city bowl prices anymore but for that money, you could rent a 3 bedroom house ... well ... anywhere really. So, if people living in the CBD are paying that for rent, they either really really hate traffic, or they have some serious issues.

Michael James just auctioned off a 700 sq.m. property in Joubert Road, with views of the stadium to die for.

Completed price?

R3.2m

the house needs to be knocked down, but 700sq.m. at the top of Green Point?

the seller is the owner/designer/architecture of the entire building...

also the rental income. it's the income you get from the boutique hotel, which is more than decent...

Sorry to say I don't think you've done your research on rental property properly.

If you're a low maintenance, adventurous young bachelor, you can buy a small motorhome for 180 K,hook up a scooter to your towbar, and live anywhere you want - even overlooking Clifton beach.

Rates = the cost of your vehicle licence disc.
Electricity = solar roof panel & free 220V plugin charges at work.
Water = fill up at the beach tap, or at work.
And your chicks for free, straight off the beach :)

The rest of your income can be saved, saved, saved for an immovable property when you're slightly older.

bbflames, I think your mate is telling porkies. Was it a Code 3 or accident damaged vehicle?

You sure as hell can't rent a 3 bedroom house in the Cape Town city bowl or atlantic seaboard for that price. Go have a look on gumtree, R6k is the going rate for bachelor flats these days. It's crazy but true.

Anon, nope not a porky at all. he was just lucky. The dealer he was up against stopped bidding at R220k. Still a bit of a hairdressers car though....

I've seen this apartment for rent/sale for ages now. I think there must be blood stains on the carpet or something lol but what bothers me more than that is I am sure it doesn't have a parking... which in down town CT is as sensible as selling snow to eskimoes.

i've been to the apartment and spoken to the owner. the apartment is uniquely designed with top materials. however, the price does not include a parking bay; and the owner was adamant that the price was not negotiable... yep. very interesting design with built-in cabling and gameshow-like boxes nevertheless.
